Here is the Swallowtail Shawl from the Fall '06 (I think) Interweave Knits. Made with Morehouse Merino laceweight wool in Mermaid and trimmed with blue glass beads.

Actually, I finished it last November, but just got around to blocking it yesterday

I know Knitpicks sells them now, but get the Woolstock

So pretty!

Honestly, I am such a sad, sorry excuse for a knitter with my two hat patterns and a single stupid rectangle baby blanket that is just knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting.

that's all this is, just knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting!

and some purling, too :)

This purling you speak of...is that like in oysters?

(ba dum bum)

Seriously, this summer I WILL take some knitting classes. I can purl if I try really hard, but dropping stitches, increasing and decreasing, and pattern reading are all higher mysteries of the knitting cult to which I have not yet been initiated.

Oh my goodness, that is GORGEOUS. I love everything about it, but most especially the colors.

Some day I have got to learn to do more than knit and purl. All I can make are scarves and blankets.

Wow, I'm impressed! You have such a great instinct with colors. When I (eventually) get married, I want to commission you to make a shawl for me, I love your lacework so much!

So that's how those metal blocking thingers work! Nice job, it's so purty.

Yeah, you just run the wire through the edges and then you only need like eight or nine pins to secure the wire to the blocking surface. Even if the wires get a little bent, it's still more or less straight ... so much quicker and easier than pinning every point and scallop!
