Starting to panic about Istanbul, but it's a good, exciting kind of panic.

I could not communicate effectively with the guy at the hotel and he told me (I think) to call back in an hour.

I wonder if I'm setting myself up for two weeks of pointing and helplessly giggling.

ETA: Just got off the phone with the very nice Australian woman stealthsass told me about. WHEW!

I found I had very little trouble communicating; and everyone was very helpful. There's a guy from far western Turkey at a restaurant called Topkapi(?) that likes to talk politics.

I'm excited for your trip!

also, that Australian lady IS super nice.
