The customer service rep who called me about shipping charges for the recycled glass tile gave me the run-around when I wanted to change my order from 4 boxes to 3 boxes. I didn't understand what he was telling me ... something about grout lines and how the sample tile wasn't exactly 4" and how my contractor would most likely want to handle it (assuming my contractor was a "he"). I really didn't understand what he was talking about, but Kate (the contractor) was standing right there, so I put her on the phone. I could see from her face, and tell from her side of the discussion, he was being a patronizing asshole to her too, and then she said, "Okay, well can you just put the order on hold while I discuss this with my client?" She hung up and was like "What an asshole?" and I was all "Totally!" and then we went to Home Depot to price regular ceramic tile and I saw how overpriced their product was. While we were there another CSR from Green called about shipping charges for the marmoleum, and I decided at that moment to get the marmoleum from a local store (re: yesterday's post regarding that) and cancel the entire order. I told the CSR why I was canceling the order, that the guy this morning had been a patronizing jerk, and she apologized and said they weren't all like that ... but it's unfortunate that even one was, because that one lost them a thousand dollar sale.
