MY JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL
What year was it?
1985-86
What were your three favorite bands?
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Sex Pistols
What was your favorite outfit?
Purple paisley shirt (with obsidian cameo brooch at collar), pegged gray jeans with cuffs rolled up, back high-top chucks, Duran Duran hat, and big black wool overcoat I'd stolen from the costume loft
What was up with your hair?
shaved on one side, long on the other--I'll have to find a picture
Who was/were your best friend(s)?
Kelsey and Justine
What did you do after school?
theater and newspaper
Where did you work?
n/a
Did you take the bus?
only when
weegoddess was mad at me and wouldn't let me ride in her car!
Who did you have a crush on?
I had a GINORMOUS crush on my journalism teacher, Mr. Potash. He was the first adult to treat me like an equal. It occurs to me that I'm probably older now than he was then, and I'm not sure what to do with that.
Did you fight with your parents?
are you kidding? It was my raison d'etre!
Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Sting. I loved Sting. Between The Dream of the Blue Turtles and The Bride, it was all about Sting. And though it pains me to admit this now, I was enormously into Mel Gibson (Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome had just come out and he wasn't a sanctimonious asshat yet). And Peter Murphy was the voice we were all going to second base to.
Did you smoke cigarettes?
Every chance I got!!!
Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?
No; I made liberal use of my locker
Did you have a 'clique'?
indeed, I had several: punks, heads (stoners), drama crew, and Level 1 geeks.
Did you have a "Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
not really. we all just hung out around the neighborhood.
Admit it, were you popular?
More "infamous" than popular, but everybody knew me
Who did you want to be just like?
Jim Morrison
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A Pulitzer-prize winning journalist and Sting's girlfriend
Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
I honestly didn't think I'd live this long.
