So if no Jew is permitted within the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, how come Bill Maher got to film a scene of Religulous inside the mosque? Also, does watching a scene that was filmed somewhere constitute "going there" yourself? What are the technicalities here?

So the people who are keeping the Jews out of the Temple Mount are other Jews. I could not figure out why, except that it's so sacred nobody ought to be there at all. But then the Muslims built a Mosque there, so they are allowed in. Or something like that.
So how does that work? Do they card you at the door for your religion, or are you on the honor system not to try to sneak in, or what?
