does anyone ever fall for this?

I got an email from Carmax saying they'd located the car I was looking for in Winston-Salem, NC; for the low transfer fee of $249, they'd be delighted to bring it up to the White Marsh location for me.

Yay, right?

So I called them to make sure that, for some reason if I decided not to buy the car after looking at it and test driving it, I wouldn't still be responsible for the transfer fee.

Yes, they said, I would still have to pay the $249. Even if I decided not to buy it.

I call bullshit.

Which is a shame because I'd probably totally end up buying it, if I didn't feel like I was being roped into anything.
