the race goes to the swift
Apr. 9th, 2004 12:16 pmLast night I broke down and finally bought that swift I'd had my eye on at Cloverhill. OMG, it so fucking rocks!
I figured out how to use an electric mixer as a winder. You slide an empty toilet paper tube onto a beater, attach one end of the yarn on with tape, and set it on "stir" or the lowest setting. Then you have to kind of feed the yarn as it winds and make sure it doesn't go off the core or tangle up. Kind of tricky with thin yarn. Maybe I'll rig up an egg beater and see if that works better.
Dude, if you buy yarn by the hank, or do a lot of dyeing or hand-painting, GET A SWIFT. Life is too short to wind your yarn by hand!
Tonight: Velvet Goldmine at Shriver Hall! Ziggy played guitar.
