Yeah, wish I could . . . but unfortunately, the first roofer (the $900 guy) went right on in and did the job already. I was livid, being as I signed nothing (no contract, no nothing), put no money down, and had not agreed to anything. I'd authorized an estimate and he thought I'd authorized the work.
I yelled, he yelled . . . the crew came back, explained what they'd done and showed me what they did (I climbed a ladder to the top of my roof and got a whole new view of Hampden) . . . and with all the rain, nothing's leaking, so in the end, what are you going to do? I got a ten-year warranty on the job, so I guess I can't go wrong . . . guess all you can do is chalk it up to a Hampden experience where people are used to doing business among neighbors on a handshake, even if you haven't even technically shaken anyone's hand.
But still. I totally would have wanted to have gotten a third opinion. Especially since I called the $5900 guy back yesterday and said "Are you sure? Because another roofer gave me an estimate that was $5000 less" and he still wouldn't budge.
