she who has the gold, makes the rules; or, how Green Building Supply lost a $1083.52 sale

Thanks to Green Building Supply's lousy customer service, I am taking my business elsewhere.

Patronizing asshole ... I'll show you "the real world"!

do not even fuck with me on February 13th. just don't.

That's ashame. What happened?

The customer service rep who called me about shipping charges for the recycled glass tile gave me the run-around when I wanted to change my order from 4 boxes to 3 boxes. I didn't understand what he was telling me ... something about grout lines and how the sample tile wasn't exactly 4" and how my contractor would most likely want to handle it (assuming my contractor was a "he"). I really didn't understand what he was talking about, but Kate (the contractor) was standing right there, so I put her on the phone. I could see from her face, and tell from her side of the discussion, he was being a patronizing asshole to her too, and then she said, "Okay, well can you just put the order on hold while I discuss this with my client?" She hung up and was like "What an asshole?" and I was all "Totally!" and then we went to Home Depot to price regular ceramic tile and I saw how overpriced their product was. While we were there another CSR from Green called about shipping charges for the marmoleum, and I decided at that moment to get the marmoleum from a local store (re: yesterday's post regarding that) and cancel the entire order. I told the CSR why I was canceling the order, that the guy this morning had been a patronizing jerk, and she apologized and said they weren't all like that ... but it's unfortunate that even one was, because that one lost them a thousand dollar sale.

If there's a god in heaven, the second rep who called you noted the name of the first rep, and he'll be fired.
But then, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I hope, at the very least, if they recorded the conversation "for quality purposes," they played it back and sat him down and went over with him in excruciating detail exactly what he did wrong.

dummies! ah, well, hopefully they'll learn their lesson from this - imagine how much money they just threw out the window, all told!

[identity profile] wasabi-poptart.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
yep ... over $1000 from me, PLUS any repeat business, PLUS any referrals they might have gotten!

[identity profile] seaya.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So you are going with Bluehouse now?

[identity profile] wasabi-poptart.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
yes I am. I've learned my lesson!

[identity profile] fightscrime.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The "real world," huh? Like the one where you don't have to take crap from overpriced and surly vendors? Give 'em hell.

[identity profile] wasabi-poptart.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I should never have gone anywhere other than Bluehouse.

Of course, if I hadn't of gone to that other place, I wouldn't have had the satisfaction of canceling that thousand-dollar order, so it's all for the best :-)

Good to see you today, btw :-)

[identity profile] bitchiekittie.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, the "real world", where the person with the money AND her contractor are both females, you bastardos.

You could start a website like this one - I found it after I moved, and was searching for suppliers and comments:

Guess where I'll never shop? ;-)

People are *still* finding and commenting on my post about Falls Road Animal Hospital, mostly former employees talking about how bad it was to work there.

I am so amused, I don't want to take it down :).
