more car trouble

Tell me, how is it possible that a clutch should fail at 53,000 miles?

It has to be something else. Maybe a rat has chewed through the cable or something.

I'd say that if the person was inconsiderate of the clutch I'd get the o-rings for the oil system all checked out, in case of oil change neglect or changing types of oil back and forth like you're not supposed to do. Other things are easy to figure out, like brakes, thankfully. Then again, some people just have lead feet or ride clutches in traffic, which just wrecks them.
