OMG!

Guess who Joe Meduza just asked to co-direct a scene for this summer's water ballet!!!

It's the Japanese scene! Co-directing with Sarah J!

Origami! Sushi! Geishas! Kabukis! Samurai! Sumo Wrestlers! Every cultural cliche you can think of, tossed into a swimming pool!

Oh, this summer suddenly just got very awesome, indeed.

Well if the story takes place in the now it'd be more like Giant Robots, Gothic Lolitas, et. al. ;)

Oh edited to add, no yellowface or bad accents, I hope!

you mean, like Mickey Rooney in "Breakfast at Tiffany's"?

Yeah or anything approaching that. Given the cast has been and will probably most likely be mostly white, avoiding that kind of stuff would probably be prudent! There's archetypes and then there's stereotypes.

I already have an uneasy feeling for the "Peru" scene, given what I know about it. I mean they changed some stuff, but still. Meh.

well, Rick and Amber are doing the Peru scene, so it should be pretty awesome no matter what direction they take it in.

No, I think there are directions which are not awesome, no matter who is doing them.

Is this the year you are finally going to be in it?

YAY!

It's totally Mermaids of Weeki Wachee meets Waiting for Guffman. SO MUCH FUN. And I feel very honored to be asked, especially because I'm (in)famous for never wanting to swim :-)

Finally! My theater minor can be put to good use!
